Independance July 3, 2007FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND IN FIRE ISLAND CAPPED BY INDEPENDANCE BENEFIT DANCE13th Annual Party, "Reflections", Features DJ Tracy Young and Lighting Wizard Guy Smith.A benefit dance on Fire Island, celebrated its lucky thirteenth anniversary. All proceeds from this year's event benefit charities that support gay health care on the island and off. The beneficiaries are: The Brent Varner Project, providing free health care, through the Actor's Fund, to HIV positive clients in the entertainment industry who lack health insurance; the Pines Care Center, coordinating doctors on the island and raising money to equip the doctors in their work; and Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC) (a beneficiary of IndepenDANCE for 10 years), a national leader in the fight against HIV and AIDS, keeping the prevention, treatment and cure of HIV an urgent national and local priority .  |
